Alexis Carlisle has had her life upended more than once. First, she lost her mother; later, she endured months of scrutiny after she came forward as a survivor of abuse and harassment; and, now, a woman has stepped into her life who claims to be her sister. Thankfully, Alexis can lean on her best friend, Noah Logan. But as they work together to put the pieces of her life back together, Noah and Alexis discover friendship may not be the only thing they want.
I was thrilled to meet the Bromance Book Club again. These guys are just so sweet and wholesome and funny, and it’s honestly a delight to read about their interactions and antics. Crazy Stupid Bromance is particularly amusing, because there is lots of wedding planning involved for the group – and, of course, Mack is a perfectionist and it has to be “just right” or else it’s ruined. (Again, I found I liked Mack more when he wasn’t in the starring role.)
Besides the book club, I really enjoyed the dynamic between Noah and Alexis: He’s nerdy, she’s sweet, and they’re best friends – and they actually feel like it. They have a history; they share jokes; they treat each other well. They love each other in that pure, undiluted way that friends do, even if it is complicated by their growing romantic feelings.
Truthfully, I enjoyed reading about their romance – and their conflicts – more so than either Thea and Gavin or Mack and Liv. This one was, by far, my favorite of the bunch.
