Publishers like to save some of their most notable books for
fall release, and it is certainly showing up in our reserve lists! Here are the most eagerly awaited books according to our patrons:
18. The Tombs by Clive Cussler and Thomas Perry
features husband and wife archaeologists in a search for the treasure of Attila
the Hun.
17. Shadow of Night by Deborah Harkness is the
eagerly awaited sequel to A Discovery of Witches. Scholar and witch
Diana and vampire geneticist Matthew travel back to Elizabethan England in
their search for a mysterious and powerful manuscript.
16. Odd Apocalypse
by Dean Thomas is the newest entry in the popular series about the fry cook who
can see ghosts. Odd and Annamaria are
resting at the estate of a reclusive billionaire but there are spirits who will
make their stay anything but peaceful. A
movie version of Odd Thomas will be out next spring.
15. NYPD Red is the latest James Patterson collaboration
with Marshall Karp. The murder of a
movie producer calls in the police’s elite taskforce to solve the case. This is the first of three Patterson titles
to make the list this month!
14. Merry Christmas, Alex Cross has Patterson’s best known character trying
to enjoy the holiday until a hostage crisis intervenes. This book will be released November 12, 2012.
13. Confessions of
a Murder Suspect is the new Patterson YA thriller, co-written with his
Women’s Murder Club partner Maxine Paetro.
Tandy Angel’s parents have been murdered, and Tandy finds herself and
her siblings are among the suspects. She
wants to clear her name, but her investigation may reveal more secrets than she
she’s prepared to face.
12. Bone Tree by Greg Ilses is still scheduled for December
1, 2012.
11. The Risk Agent by Ridley Pearson is the first in
a new series and Pearson’s first new adult book in two years. When a worker for an American company is
snatched from the streets of Shanghai, the rescue firm brings in John Knox and
Grace Chu to help retrieve him.
10. The Perfect
Hope by Nora Roberts is the last in the Inn at Boonsboro trilogy, in which
Ryder Montgomery may meet his match.
9. The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman has been
popular at Nevermore Book Club. It’s the
story of an Australian lighthouse keeper and his wife who find a baby in a
boat.
8. Death in the
Delta: Uncovering a Mississippi Family
Secret by Molly Walling is the true story of one woman’s search to find out
the truth about her father’s role in a horrific incident.
7. Delusion in
Death by J.D. Robb is the new Eve Dallas mystery.
6. The Casual
Vacancy by J.K. Rowling is the story of an English village which is thrown
into chaos after the unexpected death of a prominent town official. It’s the author’s first novel for adults.
5. You Don’t Want
to Know by Lisa Jackson has a bereaved mother who has just been released
from a mental hospital after the death of her son. Then she starts to see and hear her late
child. . . .
4. No Easy
Day: The Autobiography of a Navy Seal
by Mark Owen has been much featured in the media because it covers the death of
Osama bin Laden.
3. Low Pressure by Sandra Brown has a young woman write a
novel about the death of her sister during a tornado eighteen years earlier,
but the book seems to be stirring up some memories better left alone.
2. Last to Die by Tess Gerritsen is the new Rizzoli and Isles
mystery.
And the most requested book for the month is:
The Inn at Rose Harbor by Debbie Macomber, the first
in a new series of books set in an inn in Cedar Cove.
